GAIMS > Latest news !
GAIMS is an ongoing project. New material will be added to this website regularly. Stay tuned !
  • October 2016: We were at the event la nuit des chercheurs organized by the University of Liège and held in the shopping mall Mediacité in the heart of Liège. During an evening, everyone had the possibility to test GAIMS.

  • September 2016: We were at the ECTRIMS conference in London, with a poster entitled "What are the optimal walking tests to assess disability progression?".
  • May 2016: We were at the IET workshop "Human Motion Analysis for Healthcare Applications", held in London, where we have presented a poster about the potential applications of range laser scanners and the project GAIMS.
  • October 2015: We were at the ECTRIMS conference with 2 posters (for more information, see the "publications" page). One of them has been selected as a "top score poster".
  • April 2015: We were at the RIMS conference with 3 posters (for more information, see the "publications" page).
  • September 2014: We were at an international conference about multiple sclerosis, ECTRIMS+ACTRIMS, hold in Boston, and we have presented our poster "Diagnosing multiple sclerosis with a gait measuring system, an analysis of the motor fatigue, and machine learning" (pdf).
  • June 2014: Sophie Lejeune, a student from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Liège has presented her master thesis about the biometric identification of peaople using GAIMS.
  • June 2014: We were at the European Life Sciences Summit BIOMEDICA, where we presented our poster "Detection and characterization of gait modifications, for the longitudinal follow-up of patients with neurological diseases, based on the gait analyzing system GAIMS" (pdf).
  • May 2014: We discussed the processing pipeline of GAIMS at the ICASSP conference (pdf).
  • April 2014: We have presented two posters at the ESANN conference:
    • Machine learning techniques to assess the performance of a gait analysis system (pdf)
    • Data normalization and supervised learning to assess the condition of patients with multiple sclerosis based on gait analysis (pdf)
  • November 2013: An overview of the processing pipeline of GAIMS was presented at the BEMEKO workshop on measurement (see the slides)
  • October 2013: GAIMS is presented in the ERCIM News journal.
  • October 2013: A tesaer about GAIMS can be found on neurone.be
  • October 2013: We were at the ECTRIMS/RIMS meeting in Copenhagen, and we have presented two posters:
    • GAIMS: a powerful gait analysis system satisfying the constraints of clinical routine (pdf)
    • Relative Contribution of Walking Speed, Ataxia and Gait Asymmetry to the Composition of Gait in Multiple Sclerosis (pdf)
  • September 2013: A. Giet has presented, in his master thesis, the (1) creation, (2) validation and (3) application of a scale assessing physical therapy and physical activity (APTAIMS) in people with multiple sclerosis through a gait analysis. The results show some correlations between the characteristics of the physiotherapy and some gait characteristices measured with GAIMS, such as the speed, the double support time, the deviation from the followed path, and the lateral distance between feet, as well as a derived measure of the motor fatigue. Read his manuscript (in french) for more information.
  • June 2013: Samir Azrour, a student from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Liège has presented his master thesis about the estimation of the EDSS based on the gait measures taken by GAIMS, and he wons the price "COFELY Services" for his work.
  • June 2013: We were at the ENS congress in Barcelona, and we have presented a poster entitled Influence of the mode of walk on walking speed in multiple sclerosis: are you walking comfortably? (see the poster)
  • Augustus 2012: New results are now available ! They have been presented at the conference ECTRIMS (10-13 october 2012, Lyon, France) with the two following posters:
    • Deciphering distance-induced deceleration of gait and ataxia in people with multiple sclerosis (see the poster)
    • Detection and quantification of efficiency and quality of gait impairment in multiple sclerosis through foot path analysis (see the poster)
  • February 2012: Here are some results obtained with our experimental setup at the CHU of Liege
  • Augustus 2011: Here are our first results on a healthy volunteer performing several types of pathological gait !
