With set of range laser scanners (for example the BEA LZR-i100), we have developped a new non-intrusive feet tracker system. Our system can detect the real time position of each foot during different types of simple walking tasks. This enables the calculation of different gait parameters (global or single foot walking speed, single and double limb support times, base of support width, number of missteps,...) that help to quantify the degree and to qualify the type of locomotor impairment in patients with diseases affecting the central nervous system, especially Multiple Sclerosis.
