Inspired by the workshop on Probabilistic Modeling and Machine Learning in Structural and Systems Biology organized in Finland in 2006, the first MLSB workshop was organized in Evry in September 2007 (web site at:
http://amisbio.ibisc.fr/opencms/opencms/mlsb2007/).
About 70 researchers interested in applying machine learning to systems biology gathered and exchanged experiences and research ideas in a very fruitful two-day single session event. The scientific program was based on 4 invited talks given by internationally renowned speakers and 12 peer-reviewed papers presenting original works, as well as a poster session with about 20 posters. Revised versions of the papers selected for presentation are going to be published in BMC Proceedings.
It was the unanimous opinion of the attendees and organizers that MLSB should become a recurrent annual event, while keeping the same single session format.
History of MLSB
